Keep water moving away
Surface water should not be allowed to pond against the foundation. Grading, discharge points and drainage pathways should move water away from the structure.
Look at roof runoff
Downspouts that discharge at the foundation can concentrate water in one area. Extending or routing discharge may be part of a drainage correction plan.
Drainage is not structural repair
Improved drainage can help manage contributing conditions, but it does not automatically correct an already-damaged or unstable foundation. Structural symptoms should still be evaluated.
